Sioux Falls, SD — There was an accident reported early in the morning on New Year’s Day that left two people injured and one person facing potential alcohol-related charges. According to the news reports, two people were injured after one driver ran a red light and crashed into another.
This happened at the intersection of 26th Street and Cliff Avenue, at about 3:15 a.m. in the morning on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
Right now, not many details are being released, including the names of those involved. It appears that a Nissan Maxima was driving along 26th Street that morning when it reached the intersection with Cliff Avenue. Though the Maxima had a flashing red light, which means “stop,” it continued through the intersection and was hit by a northbound GMC Sierra.
The two drivers were both taken to a nearby hospital and were treated for non-critical injuries, police said. However, the Nissan’s driver was arrested for potentially being under the influence, for failure to obey a red light, and for not wearing a seat belt. More information will be released later.
