Commentary:
With the recent spat of icy weather, I’ve seen a serious rash of commercial vehicle rollover accidents, but why do these accidents happen? Well, for the most part, it has to do with the driver going too fast for conditions. Now, conditions can mean anything from weather, to traffic, to the curvature in the road. If a speed limit is 75 miles per hour on a highway, and that highway is covered in a thin sheet of ice, is going the speed limit really advisable? The answer is no. If this truck lost control because it entered into a curve at too high a clip, then I can’t envision too many scenarios where the log truck company wouldn’t bear the lion’s share of the fault.
