Union County, AR — A man was killed in a single-vehicle car accident in Union County, Arkansas, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. The accident happened on Highway 167, around 9:15 in the evening.
The man who was killed in the accident was identified as Roger Wilson. According to local news reports, Wilson was driving along 167 when he lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road, crashing into a grove of pine trees. He was ejected from his vehicle in the crash. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
No one else was injured in the accident, and no other vehicles were involved. Police are continuing with their investigation.

I wish we knew a little more about what happened here. I know a lot of folks would look at an accident like this and write it off as someone driving recklessly, or who had caused his own accident. That wouldn’t be very smart. I’ve seen several accidents that looked just like this, and after an investigation of the scene turned out to have been caused because there was something wrong with the car, or the victim’s vehicle was hit by someone who fled the scene. All I’m say is, I know what the accident looks like, but jumping to conclusions isn’t going to do anyone any favors.
