Juan Carlos-Salazar Killed on Eisenhower Expressway by Alleged DUI Accident in Forest Park, IL

Forest Park, Illinois — Over the weekend, a van crashed along the Eisenhower Expressway in Forest Park, killing one man, injuring four others, and leaving a driver facing potential DUI charges. Police said that 21-year old Matthew Bougher may face DUI charges for the death of 29-year old Juan Carlos-Salazar, who was killed when Bougher crashed into his van.

This accident happened early in the morning on Sunday, January 11, 2015. Matthew Bougher was driving his car the wrong way along I-290 that morning at about 5:30 a.m. while Juan Carlos-Salazar was in a van headed the correct direction.

As Bougher neared the exit for Des Plaines, he lost control of his car and crashed into two other vehicles on the road, including the van carrying Carlos-Salazar. The impact killed Juan Carlos-Salazar immediately and a total of four people had to be taken to a hospital for various injuries.

Bougher was also injured and suffered a broken hip, broken leg, and head trauma. Police said that he will be charged with multiple DUI offenses, however, as they believe he was under the influence of alcohol at the time he was going the wrong way on the Eisenhower Expressway.

More investigation is expected.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
