Polk County, TX — A woman was injured in a single-vehicle car accident in Polk County, Texas, on Thursday, January 1, 2015. The accident happened on Highway 190, and the victim was identified as 49-year old Trudy Kennedy.
Kennedy was traveling along 190 when she drove off the road and was driving on the shoulder. She then crashed into a guardrail, which caused the car to flip over. Kennedy was ejected from the vehicle, which caught fire once it came to a stop.
Police say that when they arrived at the scene of the accident, they could smell alcohol on Kennedy. Paramedics took her to a hospital in Livingston before she was transferred to Hermann Memorial.
Kennedy told authorities that she had been traveling with her daughter, but no sign of a second individual was found once the scene was searched.
The accident is still under investigation.
