Commentary
We know what happened here, but we really don’t have many details on why it happened. And honestly, that could change the way the accident is handled going forward. It was an on-the-job accident, so the driver will be eligible for workers’ comp benefits, but it’s possible there could be more here. I say that because tractor-trailers are such unsafe vehicles that have had a ton of problems in the past. Every now and then, an 18-wheeler will be driving along, its load will shift, and the truck will tip over. I don’t know if that’s what happened here. There’s just as great a chance of the accident happening because of driver error, but it’s something that should be looked into. If it turns out that a third party was involved here, they could be held liable for the driver’s injuries.
