Edgar Sanchez Killed by Rollover Accident on I-10 in Reeves County, Texas

Fort Davis, TX — Earlier this month, there was a deadly car accident that happened in rural Reeves County, along I-10. A man from California was killed and a woman was injured: Edgar Sanchez, 20, and Deysi Sotoguijosa, 22.

Both Sanchez and Sotoguijosa were from Salinas, California. Police said that Edgar Sanchez was killed on Friday, December 19, 2014 after the Suburban he was riding in lost control on I-10.

Apparently, Sotoguijosa had been driving a Chevrolet Suburban along I-10 that Friday, headed east, with Sanchez riding as a passenger. As they came upon the I-10/I-20 split, Sotoguijosa tried to cross several lanes of traffic at once, realizing that she was in the wrong lane to exit.

Her Suburban swerved onto the shoulder and lost traction, causing it to roll into a ditch. The accident ejected Sanchez from the Suburban and and he was critically injured, along with Deysi Sotoguijosa.

Both were taken to a local hospital, but Sanchez died a short time later. Right now, it’s not clear whether Sotoguijosa will face charges for this accident or not.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
