Marina, CA — Police say that an officer with the California Highway Patrol was injured after being hit by a car on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. The accident took place at the intersection of Highway 1 and Del Monte.
Around 2:30 in the afternoon, a motorist was traveling on Del Monte and making a left-hand turn. They claim that they didn’t see the CHP officer riding a motorcycle and had no time to avoid the collision. The officer injured in the accident hasn’t been named.
The driver responsible for hitting the officer has also not been identified, except to say that he is 79-years old and from Arroyo Grande.
Paramedics transported the officer to a local hospital. Information on his current condition was not readily available. Reports say that the man is expected to survive.
The driver reportedly stayed on the scene when the accident occurred and cooperated with authorities. Police are still investigating.
