Commentary:
In all my years of pouring over accident details and reports, I’ve never seen a bus, tractor-trailer, or commercial box truck simply roll over when it was driving at a speed that was safe for conditions. I don’t mean speeding either, I mean going too fast for conditions. If a person is driving the posted speed limit in a sports car during whiteout blizzard weather, then this is going too fast for conditions. If the driver of this double-decker bus failed to adjust his speed to compensate for the adverse weather, then the bus company needs to own up to their role in the accident. Now, with this many people hurt, the best thing a victim can do is move quickly. Once five or six of these victims line up, it may drain the bus’ insurance policy, in which case seeking compensation is going to be very difficult. This is always a first-come-first-serve situation, and the fastest to act usually get taken care of first.
