North Carolina — There was a serious accident along Highway 109 South earlier this morning, according to the Montgomery Herald. They reported that Jimmy Poplin, 81, was killed along Highway 109 by a log truck early Friday morning (December 19, 2014) in a pedestrian accident.
Right now, not many details are being released, but it appears that Mr. Poplin was outside checking his mail along Highway 109 when he accidentally stepped into the roadway and was hit by a passing log truck.
The impact killed Mr. Poplin immediately, though nobody else was harmed. The driver of the log truck wasn’t named and it doesn’t appear that any charges are going to be filed.
