Myakka, FL — The man who was killed in a wrong-way accident with a semi-truck in Myakka, Florida, on Friday, November 21, 2014 was identified as Matthew Doris. The accident happened near the intersection of State Road 70 and Wauchula Road.
Police say that Doris was traveling east on 70 when he crossed the road’s center lines and crashed into a semi-truck headed west. The truck driver later told police that they attempted to swerve to avoid a collision, but were unsuccessful. Doris was killed in the accident.
The driver of the semi-truck, as well as a passenger accompanying him were uninjured.
There’s been no mention of factors which may have contributed to the accident. Police are checking to see if alcohol was involved.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
