Benbrook, TX — There was a three-car accident late last week that claimed the life of a local West Hills High School student. Esperanza Contreras, 17, died last Thursday (December 11, 2014) after the SUV she was riding in was in a major wreck.
It happened along Benbrook Highway/Highway 377, just north of I-20. Contreras was riding in an SUV that was allegedly speeding along the highway that day when someone happened and it crashed into at least one other vehicle near Mary’s Creek.
A total of three vehicles were at the crash site, police said, but only two had impacted each other. The accident killed Esperanza Contreras while three others in the respective vehicles were hospitalized with various injuries. As of this weekend, one of the injured victims was still in critical condition.
Police noted that speed was likely a factor in this accident and said that they’re also considering the possibility that racing was an issue as well. However, this hasn’t been officially confirmed.
