CALERA, OK — One person was killed in a major accident with a tractor-trailer that was reported in Calera, Oklahoma on Sunday, December 15th, 2014. The article released by KXII said that the accident happened around 10:00 Sunday night.
Police said that one man died and several were taken to the hospital when a tractor-trailer struck a number of stopped vehicles while driving in the northbound lanes. Authorities said that the vehicles had stopped when a tractor-trailer collided with the rear of them.
The driver of the yellow tractor-trailer was killed in the crash.
The Oklahoma State Police are still going over the details of the accident.
Scene of the Accident
Now, this truck had to have hit the other vehicles very hard to kill the driver, which makes me wonder if the driver was awake and alert, and if his truck was functioning properly. If the driver had been pushed to drive far more hours than is allotted, or the truck had skipped necessary repairs, then this accident may have been out of their hands. Of course, the accident could have just been driver error, but if the brakes failed for any number or reasons, the truck’s manufacturer could be liable for the accident.
