Norfolk, VA — Police said that two people were killed this past Sunday morning (December 7, 2014) after a single-vehicle accident along Sewells Point Road. It happened at about 4:00 a.m. that morning, police said, and the victims were identified as 24-year old Anthony Davenport and 39-year old Latish Harris.
Not a lot of details are being released, but Davenport was apparently the driver of an SUV that was headed south along Sewells Point Road with Latrish Harris and another woman as a passenger. Near the intersection with Chesapeake Boulevard, Davenport lost control of his SUV and swerved off the roadway.
The SUV then crashed into a utility pole owned by Dominion Virginia Power, which killed both Harris and Davenport immediately. The third woman in the SUV, who wasn’t named, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Right now, it’s not clear why Davenport lost control of his SUV, but police do think that high speeds were a factor. The accident is still being investigated and alcohol was mentioned as one of the possible avenues that will be explored.
