Southold Township, New York — In the area of Greenport, local Peconic man Bartolone Miguel, 34, was killed over the weekend in a fatal car accident. Police think that alcohol was a factor and have arrested the suspect driver, 71-yea old John Costello Sr.
Police said that this accident happened at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Costello had been driving his pickup truck along Route 25 that evening, headed east, when he lost control for unknown reasons and veered into the westbound lanes.
It was there that his pickup truck crashed head-on into a Honda, which was being driven by Oseas Ramirez, 22 years old. Bartolone Miguel, who was riding as Ramirez’ passenger, was badly injured by the impact and later passed away at a local hospital.
Both Ramirez and Costello were treated for less serious injuries. At the last update, however, police though that Costello was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck.
