St. Louis County, Minnesota — Last month, there was a deadly car accident that injured two people, killed one, and might result in the driver facing alcohol-related charges. The accident happened on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at about 1:30 a.m.
The woman who died was later identified as Chevra Ziegler, 48, who was from Shoreview. Police said that Ziegler, her 23-year old son Derek, and Randy Ostrom, 52, were all passengers in a car driven by 33-year old Sherri Spillers.
The details are still a little unclear, it appears that Spillers was driving along Shipley Road in Alborn that morning when she lost control and swerved off the road, overturning in the process.
The rollover ejected both Ostrom and Chevra Ziegler, both of whom were injured. However, Ziegler died a short time later from her injuries. Her son, Derek Ziegler, was only slight injured.
The driver of the car, Sherri Spillers, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, though that hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. The police were still working on their investigation at the last update.
