SWINK, OK — Janet French was killed in a two-vehicle accident that happened in Swink, Oklahoma on Friday, November 28th, 2014. The news article from My Fox DFW said that the accident happened in Choctaw County.

58-year-old Janet French was killed when the pickup truck he was a passenger in and an SUV collided while driving on Highway 70. State Police think that the SUV crossed from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes where it collided head-on with the pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck and the driver of the SUV both sustained injuries, although only the driver of the SUV was hospitalized.

Commentary:

There are a lot of reasons crossover vehicle accident happen, but distracted driving is starting to rear its head as a leader of the categories. Fortunately, the technology in proving somebody was on their cell phone at the time of the accident has evolved considerably over the last years. Now, we can look at both the data on the device, as well as what nearby towers it pinged, and when it pinged them. Essentially, given the right circumstances, we can show that a driver was on the phone at the time of the impact. It’s always something to consider when looking at a fact pattern like this one.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
