Pecos County, Texas — In far West Texas this week, a young child was killed and a young woman was injured after their car was in an accident. This happened near Fort Stockton in Pecos County and the victims were identified as Cecilia Cruz, 23, who was injured, and Christian Cruz, 4, who passed away.
The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon (December 2, 2014) along U.S. Highway 67. Cecilia Cruz was driving her Kia Forte car south along the highway that afternoon with Christian Cruz as a passenger. As they drove along, Cecilia failed to keep the car on the road for unknown reasons, swerving off to the side, into a ditch, and hitting a concrete culvert.
The accident critically injured Christian Cruz and he was taken to Pecos County Hospital, where he later died that afternoon. At the last update, Cecilia had been taken to a hospital as well, but was released. Right now, it’s not clear what caused Cecilia Cruz to lose control of the Kia that afternoon, but the Texas DPS said they’d continue their investigation.
