Orlando, FL — An accident at a scrap metal plant in Orlando, Florida, caused an employee to suffer burns over much of his body. The man’s name is Vincent Maynard, and the accident took place on Monday, December 1, 2014.
Maynard is an employee at Brothers Scrap Metal on South Norton Avenue. Maynard was attempting to get a read on a piece of metal, and co-workers believe he may have cut into the piece to get a more accurate read. When that happened, the metal exploded.
Other workers at the plant have search for the piece of metal which caused the accident, but haven’t been able to locate it.
Following the explosion, Maynard was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Reports have said that the local OSHA office has been notified of the accident and will be investigating.
