According to the news reports, the accident happened near Eric Knowlton School, close to Cranberry Meadow Road. Erickson had been driving his Nissan along southbound Route 9 that morning when he lost control on the apparently wet roads.
HIs car fishtailed and skidded into oncoming traffic, where he crashed head-on into a northbound box truck. The accident critically injured Erickson and he passed away immediately while the truck drier, 40-year old Kevin Learned, wasn’t harmed.
Police said they’re still investigating the accident, but suspect that poor road and weather conditions were major factors.
