Bancroft, IA — An elderly couple passed away last Thursday (November 13, 2014) after a serious accident between their minivan and an 18-wheeler truck in the Bancroft area. The accident happened along A42 (370th Street) and the victims were identified as Edward Foertsch, 88, and Agnes Foertsch, 84.
Police said that the Foertsches were headed along P44 that afternoon at about 4:00 p.m. when they came to the intersection with A42/370th Street. However, it looks like the Foertsch’s minivan ran through the stop sign and pulled into the path of an eastbound 18-wheeler truck, which caused a major collision.
Their minivan was first hit by the eastbound 18-wheeler, then pushed into the path of a westbound 180wheeler. Both Edward and Agnes Foertsch were killed immediately in the accident while the semi-truck drivers were not harmed. Police said they’d keep investigating the accident, but haven’t released any extra information.
