Noble County, Ohio — About two weeks ago, there was a fatal explosion and fire in Ohio at a worksite. Authorities have since confirmed that 48-year old worker Norman Butler was killed at a well pad site owned by Consol Energy Inc.
The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon, November 12, 2014. Butler was working at the well pad for Consol that afternoon when an explosion happened at about 4:15 p.m.
The specific site of the explosion wasn’t given, but it was on Blue Racer Midstream property, the company later confirmed. Butler was killed in the explosion, but nobody else was harmed. Later, Consol released a statement about the accident, saying that it happened while pump upgrades were being done by Blue Racer Midstream.
Right now, though, it’s unclear why the explosion happened or whether it could have been prevented.
