Commentary:
The first thing I’d have a look at with the evidence is this accident would be the cell phone(s), tablets, laptops, GPSs, and any other electronic device that the driver could have been using before the accident. Hitting one vehicle is one thing, hitting four at the same time tells me that a driver’s eyes were not on the wheel at all. After the electronics, I’d have a hard look into the truck’s tracking and telemetry data stored in the on-board computer system. It could tell us that the truck driver was simply going too fast to stop the truck in time. If either of these turn out to be the case, then the trucking company really needs to answer for the role they played in the crash. They may try to distance themselves from the driver, but any good lawyer knows how to punch giant holes in this argument.
