BAY, AR — One person was seriously injured in a work accident that was reported in Bay, Arkansas on Saturday, November 15th, 2014. The news article released by the Stuttgart Daily Leader said that the accident happened sometime Saturday night.
One man was hurt while he was working at a cotton gin. The news said that the worker’s arm became trapped in machinery. First responders had to take apart the machine in order to free the worker.
The man was taken by EMS to a hospital in Memphis where he was being treated for unspecified injuries.
The investigation into the accident is being handled by officials from local and state agencies.

This is a situation that is probably going to fall within the realm of workers’ compensation, however there could be other angles to look at. Specifically, with the machine involved in the accident. If there was a defect within the machine, then the manufacturer of the machine could be liable for the accident, but if the machine was working properly, workers’ compensation may be the only recourse. Nobody will know for sure until a closer look is taken.
