Salina, KS — A worker received sever electrical shocks in the Salina area last Saturday (October 25, 2014) that resulted in him being hospitalized. Authorities confirmed that 24-year old Zachary Short was seriously injured and burned after an accident in a soybean field where he was working that afternoon.
The field was located near Farrelly Road, off Ohio Street, on the far south side of Salina. Short was working with some others that day and was cutting the soybean field to harvest the soybeans.
Apparently, Short was working near a tractor and an auger boom. The boom touched some electrical lines as it swooped over to pick up some soybeans. The electoral current caused sparks and Short was repeatedly shocked as he tried move away from the tractor.
Co-workers at the scene were able to move Short to safety, but he was badly burned and had to be taken to a hospital in Wichita. At the last update, he was in serious condition. Right now, it’s clear for whom Short was working that day.
