Christiana, PA — Police said that two older women were badly injured (one was in critical condition, at last update) after their car was hit by a tanker truck. The accident happened in rural Bart Township in Christiana, and the two women were injured have been identified: Arlene Hershey, 93, and Carolyn Yingling, 71.
This accident happened last Sunday morning, October 12, at about 10:00 a.m. Hersey was driving her blue Buick along Georgetown Road that morning with Yingling as a passenger when she tried to make a U-turn at the intersection with Bartville Road.
As Hershey executed the maneuver, she was hit by a passing milk tanker truck, which struck the driver’s side of her Buick.
Both Hershey and her passenger, Yingling, were taken to a hospitals. At last update, Hershey was in critical condition and Yingling was in serious condition, according to WGAL News.
The news reports didn’t mention anything about the tanker truck and whether that driver was at fault, but police were expected to investigate this more as the week continues.
