Columbia Heights, MN — A man trying to cross a busy road on foot was hit and injured by a Metro Transit bus this past Tuesday night in Columbia Heights. The man’s name wasn’t given, but he was 35 years old.
The accident happened at about 10 p.m. at night (Tuesday, October 14, 2014) along Central Avenue. The man was allegedly trying to walk across Central Avenue near 45th Avenue that night when he was hit by a passing Metro Transit bus.
The impact injured the man and he was taken to a hospital (Hennepin County Medical Hospital). The details of the wreck aren’t very clear, but it looks like the windshield on the Metro bus was shattered, so the bus might’ve struck the man with its front end.
Allegedly, the man was not in a crosswalk a the time. One passenger on the bus was treated for minor injuries, but nobody else on the bus – including the driver – was injured.
So far, it’s not clear why the 35-year old man was trying to cross Central Avenue on foot that night.
