Commentary
Unfortunately, regardless of whether or not a truck driver is actually guilty of hitting someone, a trucking company is going to spend thousands and thousands of dollars defending them. They don’t have a choice. Being found at-fault in an accident like this can have a major impact on their ability to do business in the future, and when faced with those consequences, a trucking company has no choice but to fight. Because of that, it’s very important for victims to make sure as much evidence as possible is collected from the scene of an accident. Witness statement, skid marks, all of those things can prove pivotal in trying to prove liability in an accident. Unfortunately, many of these things can fall outside the scope of a police investigation, and so having a private investigation conducted may be advisable.
