Salisbury, NC — A man from Florida was killed just south of Salisbury last month after his pickup truck was in a wreck with a larger, 18-wheeler truck. Police have recently identified the victim as Wade Oliver, 53 years old.
The accident happened on Tuesday, September 29, 2014 along I-85, according to the police reports. Wade Oliver was driving along I-85 near Peeler Road – in the northbound lanes – when he crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler truck that was parked on the side of the highway.
The accident killed Oliver and police are speculating that he might have fallen asleep at the wheel, since there was no indication of braking or skid marks on I-85.
The accident is still being investigated and the news reports didn’t do a very good job of showing exactly where the 18-wheeler was parked that night and whether it had been legally parked.
