Turlock, CA — Three people died and another was injured after a suspected drunk driver in Turlock last month crashed into them. The accident happened on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at about 7:45 p.m. The three who died were all related: Julia Flores, 20, Elena Flores, 47, and Brian Flores, 4.
Police said that this happened at the intersection of Boxwood Way and Rockwood Avenue. 28-year old Luis Cruz was driving a white BMW along Boxwood Way that evening when he lost control and swerved onto the sidewalk.
Julia Flores, her mother-in-law Elena Flores, and two children were walking along the sidewalk when Cruz’ BMW lost control. The sports car ran up on the sidewalk and struck the family.
Both Julia and Elana Flores were killed at the scene and Brian Cruz, Julia’s son, died a short time later at a nearby hospital. Another child, age 2, was also walking with the family, but was apparently uninjured.
After the accident, Cruz and a passenger in his BMW tried to run away, but were stopped by bystanders. Police later arrested Cruz for drunk driving, saying that they suspected he was under the influence of alcohol.
