I could talk all day about the potential causes of this accident, but I’m more concerned with what made the accident so severe. From pictures the news report, it said that the truck left the road and hit a guard rail. The photos from the scene show the truck, resting upright in the median, with no other heavy obstacles or vehicles to hit nearby. Should a large dump truck erupt into flames after simply hitting a guardrail, not even fast enough to go through it or tip the truck? These are all details that lead me to strongly believe that this could be a problem with the truck. Tracing the fire back to its source in the vehicle could show us that a problem with the design of the truck made this accident far worse than it should have been, in which case a claim against the manufacturer could be warranted. In any case, peering into this wreckage is going to tell you a lot more than a news report would.
