According to news reports, 6-month old Mason Villegas and his mother, Yvette, were injured after their car was struck from behind in Harlingen, TX on September 9, 2012. Police in Harlingen said that the driver of a pickup truck, 20-year old Joe Montez, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into Yvette’s southbound vehicle at Wilson Road along the Expressway 77 frontage road.

The collision happened at about 4:00 p.m. and left Mason and Yvette hospitalized with various injuries. As of September, Mason remained hospitalized. Police said that Montez was also injured and taken to a hospital; they located him a short distance from the accident, having fled the scene. He was also arrested and allegedly charged with three counts of intoxication assault.
