Hancock County, MS — Police have said that Richard Sandoz was killed after falling from a utility elevator he had installed on his house in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, on Saturday, September 20, 2104.
Witnesses say that Sandoz was standing inside the lift and that the floor just fell out from beneath him. Two others were injured in the accident. A friend of Sandoz suffered cuts and bruises. The friend’s 16-year old son broke his leg.
Sandoz himself was 74-years old.
City officials are urging those who install these types of elevators to have them inspected for safety at least once a year.
