Marvin St. Romain, Monique Scott Injured in Motorcycle Accident on I-10 in El Paso, TX

El Paso, TX — Two motorcyclists were injured in an accident that took place on Interstate 10 in El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. The accident took place around 4:45 in the afternoon.

Marvin St. Romaine and Monique Scott were riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the far left lane of Interstate 10 when the crash occurred. Traffic ahead of them was coming to a stop and they rear-ended a vehicle ahead of them when they failed to slow down. Both riders were thrown from their bikes.

Both St. Romaine and Scott were taken to a local hospital. St. Romaine suffered serious head trauma, while Scott suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say that failure to control speed was the accident’s main contributing factor.

Whether they’re in the wrong or not, many people are predisposed to side against motorcyclists right from the get go. When you think of a motorcyclist, what are some of the first images that pop into your head? Either it’s the young punk who does nothing but speed down the highway and cut people off, or it’s the ‘roided out Hells Angel, who make you feel like you need to lock your doors every time they drive by. I’m exaggerating of course, but I think you get my point. But, there are plenty of examples of accidents where a motorcyclist is either injured or killed, through absolutely no fault of their own. For example, you may have heard that Harley-Davidson has recently had to recall many of its bikes because of defects in their braking systems. The bikes involved in this accident were also Harley-Davidsons. I don’t know if there were also problems with their brake systems, but I think that it’s a possibility that’s at least worth looking into.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
