Sussex County, VA — Earlier this week, a man from Glen Allen was killed in rural Sussex County after his car was in a head-on wreck with an 18-wheeler truck. Ronald Jones, 54, was killed on Monday evening after his Cadillac lost control on Route 40 (Sussex Drive) and swerved into oncoming traffic.
Police said that Jones was driving his Cadillac west along Route 40 on Monday evening around 5:30 p.m. when he started driving in the wrong direction. As his Cadillac was headed west in the eastbound lanes, he collided head-on with an 18-wheeler truck, which started a fire.
Jones was killed in the accident and the truck driver, who wasn’t named, was treated for some non-serious injuries. So far, it’s not clear why Jones was driving in the wrong lanes of traffic, but the VSP are investigating some more.
