Dagsboro, DE — A woman from Frankford, Delaware, died on Friday, September 12, 2014, after her car was hit by a truck near the intersection of Power Plant Road and Bunting Street. The 75-year old woman has been identified as Shirley Handy.
The accident happened when the woman drove through a stop sign and was broadsided by a truck being driven by Kyle Wilkins. Police say that Wilkins did not have a stop sign and so had the right of way.
Handy slowed down but didn’t come to a stop at the intersection. Her vehicle moved directly into Wilkins path, and he hit her directly on the driver’s side door. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Wilkins, along with two passengers inside his vehicle at the time, were all wearing seat belts and were uninjured.
