Sheffield, IA — A woman was critically injured in an accident with a semitrailer just south of Sheffield, Iowa, on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. The accident took place on Highway 65.
Officials report that Matthew Schlachter was driving south on 65 along with Grady and Vonn Aaron, all in separate vehicles, with John Stier approaching from the south in a semitrailer. Police say that Schlachter failed to maintain control of his vehicle, causing collisions with the other three vehicles.
Anne Grady was injured and taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. At last report she was listed in critical condition.
The accident is still under investigation. At this time, what caused Schlachter to lose control of his vehicle is unclear. There’s been no report of wet roads or adverse weather on the night of the accident.
