Hialeah, FL — Three people, including two children, were injured when the car they were traveling in collided with a United States Postal Service vehicle in Hialeah, Florida, on Friday, August 29, 2014. The accident took place on West 68th Street, around six in the afternoon.
Local authorities say the two children — a three-month old and an 18-month old — were in a car with their grandmother when she struck the parked mail truck.
The 18-month old was airlifted to a local hospital. The 3-month old and her grandmother were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. While there’s been no update on their conditions, they’re expected to make full recoveries. The driver of the mail truck, 39-year old Ge Llorett suffered head injuries.
Police are still investigating in an attempt to understand how the accident occurred. They believe the mail truck was parked at the time of the accident, and are looking to speak with the grandmother to understand why she would have swerved into it.
