San Angelo, TX — One person was killed and two people were injured in a hit and run accident in San Angelo, Texas, on Monday, August 11, 2014. The accident took place at the intersection of 19th Street and Marx Street, around eleven at night.
According to police reports, Eulalio Giron was stopped at the intersection. Giron failed to yield the right of way to a Yukon being driven by Bernardo Ponce-Ponce, and collided with the SUV.
Giron was taken to Shannon Medical Center and pronounced dead. Armando Cervantes, a passenger in Giron’s vehicle, was severely injured and also taken to Shannon.
Police arrested Ponce-Ponce around four in the morning, charging him with failure to stop and render aid. Yecenia Sanchez, a passenger in Ponce-Ponce’s vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
If convicted, Ponce-Ponce could face up to 20 years in prison and pay a fine of up to $10,000.
The accident is still being investigated.
