Pendleton County, WV — A truck driver sustained life-threatening injuries after his truck rolled over while traveling around Allegheny Mountain on Monday, August 11, 2014. The accident took place on that section of Route 33 known as Horseshoe Curve.
Anthony Jones, who’s been identified as the truck driver, was going around the curve when he lost control of his truck and ran through the guardrail and landed in a ravine just off the road. Jones was taken to a local hospital. There’s been no update on his current condition.
Local residents say that this isn’t the first accident like this the mountain has seen. However, the fact that the mountain is part of a national forest prevents more substantial barriers from being erected.
