Plain Township, OH — Police have identified William Nobach as the driver of a semi-truck that crashed into a gasoline tanker on U.S. 30 south of Plain Township, Ohio, on Sunday, August 3, 2014, around 4:30 in the afternoon.
Apparently, traffic had slowed due to another accident. That was when Nobach collided with the tanker, which was being driven by Kenneth Kesner. Kesner was uninjured in the accident. Nobach was ejected through the front windshield and found in the median beside the two trucks. The collision caused a fire which quickly engulfed both vehicles.
Nobach was taken to Metro Health Medical Center in critical condition. He is being treated for broken bones and burns.
The gasoline tanker was carrying 6,400 gallons of gasoline and 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel. Local firefighters, as well as the Wayne County EPA were called in to deal with the fuel spill.
The accident is still being investigated.
