Bristol, PA — A family of three escaped with only minor injuries after the minivan they were traveling in was hit by a garbage truck on Route 413 in Bristol, Pennsylvania. The accident took place on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, around three in the afternoon.
Reports indicate that the garbage truck had exited Interstate 95 and was traveling east when it rolled over on top of the family’s minivan. A police officer who arrived on the scene was able to flag down a heavy-duty wrecker that was able to assist in moving the truck off the minivan. The two parents inside the van were able to extricate themselves from the vehicle. Emergency workers were able to remove a 17-year old boy.
All three were taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the garbage truck was not injured in the accident.
