Three Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Falvel Drive in Harris County, Texas

Harris County, TX — Three people were injured when an SUV lost control and sped into a gas station parking lot in Harris County, Texas, on Tuesday, July 22, 2013.

The accident took place in the parking lot of a Stripes gas station at Falvel Drive and Spring Stuebner Road around 2:30 in the afternoon. Authorities say a green SUV lost control, crashing into a tan SUV in the gas station’s parking lot. The second SUV rammed a 78-year old man pumping gas before crashing into a pickup truck.

The man who was hit by the second SUV was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, and is listed in critical condition.

The passenger in the green said she believed the driver may have suffered a medical episode, which led to the crash. Police are continuing to investigate.

Commentary

It’s possible that the driver suffered a blackout or some other medical episode, which led to the accident. So we’ve got to ask, did the driver have any medical conditions which could have led to this happening? Anything he was aware of or anything that should have kept him out of the driver’s seat? Drivers aware of any conditions they suffer from that could potentially harm others out on the road have a duty to stay out of the driver’s seat. In any case, it does appear that the driver would be liable for the accident. Fortunately, it was much less worse than it could have been.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
