Marietta, GA — Police have identified Miguel Zuniga as the man who was critically injured in an accident with an 18-wheeler in Marietta, Georgia, on Saturday, July 19, 2014. The accident took place on Interstate 75, near Delk Road.
According to reports, a pickup truck driven by Zuniga crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler that was parked on the side of the road. He was critically injured and taken by emergency workers to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. At last report he had been upgraded to being in serious condition.
The accident also involved a police officer attending to the accident and another vehicle that crashed into his patrol car. However, Zuniga was the only one to sustain any serious injuries.
Police are still investigating the accident.

There are still a few things we need answered before a way forward can be determined here. The biggest would be where exactly the truck was parked on the road. Reports say that it was parked in an emergency lane. Was something wrong with the truck? Was the struck sticking out into the lane? If the truck was illegally parked, then the trucking company may be held liable for the accident.
