TOWNER, ND — A tractor-trailer accident left one person dead in Towner, North Dakota on Monday, July 14th, 2014, according to the news report from The Washington Times.
Police think that they have reason to believe one man died when he was run over by a tractor-trailer that he was working on in the parking lot of Towner County Medical Center.
Scene of the Accident
The person was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders when they arrived.
The investigation into the accident is currently being handled by The North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Commentary:
This incident is unique, but by no means unheard of. If the person was working on the truck, and the driver was aware, and simply assumed that the victim was not working on it when he started up and took off, the trucking company would probably bear the fault in this situation. Any time a truck is being worked on, and a driver simply gets in and starts the vehicle before driving off haphazardly, it shows a complete lack of regard for the people near the massive vehicle, and I’d be willing to bet there is some kind of negligence claim to be made.
