BOLIVAR COUNTY, MS — A pedestrian accident claimed the life of a 60-year-old man in Bolivar County, Mississippi on Sunday, July 6th, 2014, according to the report from Michigan Live.
Police believe 60-year-old Donald West was killed when he was struck by an SUV while standing on the shoulder of Highway 61 around 4:40 in the afternoon Sunday.

Donald West was killed in the crash, while the driver of the SUV, identified in the report as Otis Poole, did not report immediate injuries.
The investigation into the accident is currently underway by officials from the Mississippi State Police.
Commentary:
The vast majority of pedestrian accidents I’ve researched and handled boil down to the victim’s position in the road at the time of the accident. If the news report is accurate, and this person was standing in the shoulder of the road when he was struck, the driver of the vehicle that struck him would more than likely bear the fault in this case, but I’d need more information before I could say definitively.
