UPDATE: Donald Dodge Killed in Car Accident on Highway 101 in Bandon, Oregon

BANDON, OR — A head-on accident killed two drivers in Bandon, Oregon on Monday, June 30th, 2014, according to the news report from Oregon Live.

Representatives familiar with details of the accident say that Donald Dodge was killed when the Honda Accord he was driving collided head-on with a Honda Element on Highway 101 around 3:30 Monday afternoon.

Scene of the Accident

Donald Dodge was killed in the crash, as was the driver of the other vehicle, identified in the report as Virginia Woodson. No other injuries were mentioned in the news.

The Oregon State Police hope to release the results of their investigation at a later date, and hope any eyewitnesses that have yet to come forward will do so to help police understand the fatal collision.

Commentary:

The liability in crossover accidents can be difficult to determine, especially when there are no survivors. In these situations, investigators usually look at the skid marks on the road to try and place the vehicles to the best of their ability. If authorities can determine which of the vehicles did the crossing over, that person would more than likely bear the liability in the crash, unless there are details in the news I have not come across, or if there are any new developments.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
