BOYLE COUNTY, KY — A teenage girl is dead and four people were seriously hurt after a single-vehicle crash that happened in Boyle County, Kentucky on Sunday, June 29th, 2014, according to Lex 18.
Investigators have said that they have reason to believe four people were hurt when a vehicle is believed to have skidded off of Scrubgrass Road around 11:30 before hitting a tree just off the pavement.
Scene of the Accident
Killed in the crash was 16-year-old Emily Snow, while four others were taken by EMS personnel to area hospitals with unspecified injuries.
Authorities have said that they determined alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary:
Any time I see young teenagers involved in alcohol related crash, I cant help but see a major failure on the part of either parents or adults. Considering its the end of the school year, many lackadaisical parents will host parties and provide alcohol for their kids as a ‘safer alternative’ to sneaking off and drinking without supervision. If this turns out to be the case there, there is a very real possibility that the parents who provided the alcohol could be liable for this accident for negligently providing alcohol to minors. Either way, the source of the alcohol needs to be found, and held responsible.
