Louisville, KY — A man was killed and to EMS workers were injured when an ambulance crashed into a Geo Metro in Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday, June 23, 2014. The accident took place at the intersection of River Road and Frankfort Avenue, around 6:30 in the evening.
An ambulance responding to a report of a man down crashed into a Geo turning onto River Road from Frankfort. The ambulance lost control and crashed into a construction crane. The two EMS workers were trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated. And being freed from the ambulance, the two workers were taken to University Hospital.
The driver of the Geo, identified as Christopher O’Brien, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tragically, the EMS workers discovered a short time later that the call to which they were responding was canceled minutes after it was called in.
