Prowers County, CO — The driver of an 18-wheeler was injured in what authorities are calling a “weather related incident,” that took place on Highway 287 in Prowers County, Colorado, on Saturday, June 14, 2014. The accident took place around 7:15 in the evening.
Glen Dean was driving an 18-wheeler along 287 when strong winds picked up his trailer, causing it to crash into another, passing 18-wheeler being driven by Luis Jimenez. Dean’s truck slid off the road, coming to rest in a ditch. Jimenez’ truck came to a rest on the shoulder of the highway. Jimenez was uninjured and was unable to drive his truck away from the scene.
Dean was taken to Prowers Medical Center. According to reports, winds at the time of the accident had reached speeds of 78 mph.
